Day 1
Day one — Ponta Delgada
Cobbled streets, colonial facades, the Garcia market for first tastes. Sleep at 7 Cidades Lake Lodge, inside the crater itself.
Day 2
Day two — Sete Cidades
The blue lake and the green lake. A walk along the crater rim. Dinner above the clouds.
Day 3
Day three — Furnas
A short hike to the forest pools of Caldeira Velha. Lunch — a cozido stew cooked underground beside Lake Furnas. Late afternoon soak in the terracotta pools of Terra Nostra, ochre-coloured and warm year-round.
Day 4
Day four — Slow goodbye
Black-sand beach at Mosteiros. Coffee at the harbour. The plane back to a louder world.
