Corsica — Wild Coast
Red granite cliffs falling into turquoise water, mountain villages where the road runs out, and footpaths that lead straight into the maquis. Corsica is an island best explored on foot and by car: coastal trails in the morning, a swim in a hidden cove at noon, and a glass of local wine as the light turns gold.
A suggested itinerary
This is an example — every experience is designed exactly to your pace and the duration you want.
Day 1
Day one — Calvi
Arrive in Calvi and walk the citadel ramparts at golden hour. A first coastal path along the bay, then dinner at the harbour with the Genoese tower behind you.
Day 2
Day two — Calanques de Piana
The most dramatic coastal drive in Europe (≈ 80 km south), with a stop to walk among the red rock formations. Swim from a quiet cove before continuing to Porto.
Day 3
Day three — Scandola by boat & Porto trails
Morning boat into the protected Scandola reserve, unreachable by road. In the afternoon, a short but stunning trail above the Porto Gulf, ending with an aperitif as the cliffs turn red.
Day 4
Day four — Bonifacio & the cliff path
Drive south through the mountains to the clifftop town suspended over the strait (≈ 4h). Walk the coastal path along the limestone cliffs, then kayak through the chalk caves below.
Day 5
Day five — A last mountain walk
Before the flight, a short loop through the chestnut forests and stone villages of the Castagniccia. One last plate of charcuterie, then the slow road back to Calvi.
