Montenegro
The Montenegrin Riviera
Tucked between Croatia and Serbia, often overlooked, undeservedly. Two national parks, a UNESCO-listed walled town, and a coastline that puts the Caribbean to shame.
A suggested itinerary
This is an example — every experience is designed exactly to your pace and the duration you want.
Day 1
Day one — Kotor
Wander the Venetian alleys. Climb to St. John's Fortress for the panorama over the bay — one of Southern Europe's most beautiful fjords.
Day 2
Day two — Lovćen
Switchbacks up the mountain to the Njegoš Mausoleum. Mountain biking, picnics, silence.
Day 3
Day three — Budva
Old town walls in the morning, a swim at Mogren beach, a sunset over the Riviera.
Day 4
Day four — Durmitor
North to the Tara River canyon — the deepest in Europe (≈ 3h drive). Hike, raft, sleep in a log cabin under the stars.
Day 5
Day five — Back to the coast
Slow drive back to Tivat through the mountains. Late afternoon flight home. (Optional extension: the Bar–Belgrade train, one of Europe's most beautiful rail routes, adds a full extra day.)
